Many construction software products now support BIM in various ways. A modern design tool will generally be able to create a model of the project. Project management or field productivity software will be able to view or interact with this model, oftentimes updating elements during work in progress. Post-commissioning, the as-built documents will often be submitted to the owner as a model, which represents the physical project and various layers of data about components used, maintenance required, serialized asset information for mechanicals and more.
