At CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023, we caught up with Sarcos Robotics CEO Jorgen Pedersen, who at the time was CEO of Sarcos Robotics, and continues in leadership roles in robotics the vital Pittsburg market. The company has a line of robots that can be configured with multiple end effectors and programmed for multiple tasks.

IRONPROS: So if you're a contractor and get one of these robots, is it a one trick pony? Or can you outfit it for various tasks through a combination of hardware, and maybe some ability to configure workflows that the robot performs?

PEDERSEN: Yeah, it's picking the right tool for the right job. These are just tools to help construction companies to increase productivity, and also address the safety concerns. So, for example, you can put these robots at height, you can put them on water, with completely different hardware solutions for those. But we're really going to see tremendous impact on the construction industry in having what we call supervised autonomy, where you put in a lot of the brawn, the repetitiveness on the robot, and it's performing repetitive tasks, you know, the Guardian XM, which is also in the booth here today, allows us to do plasma ablation, or laser ablation of a surface and clear a surface or prepare it--it's perceiving the world, and figuring out how to take that perception and ...
